After Kevin Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors, Russell Westbrook became the first player to average a triple-double since Oscar Robertson while leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to the playoffs en route to his first NBA Most Valuable Player award.

With the Thunder trading Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis for Paul George, Westbrook heads into the 2017-18 NBA season with a new All-Star forward. However, Brandon Jennings reveals it has not kept the six-time All-Star from getting even better during the offseason on Twitter:

Unlike most players who get comfortable, it is refreshing to see the 28-year-old improving his game despite all the individual success he has had through nine seasons. As Westbrook is improving individually, the hope is his teammates are doing the same if they want to make a deep playoff run for the upcoming season in the difficult Western Conference.

While all the attention was on Kyrie Irving's trade demand from the Cleveland Cavaliers, one of the storylines heading into the new season remains on Westbrook's contract extension. Although Westbrook is eligible for a five-year, $207 million deal, there have been no updates if he intends to re-sign with Oklahoma City or enter free agency with George, LeBron James, and DeMarcus Cousins.
