The NBA over the years has been constantly evolving to the playing style of the various players on the court.

However, there has been a growing trend of more common fouls and technical fouls being handed out over the last several seasons. It is something that Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony has noticed over time.

“The game has changed a lot since I came in the league 15 years ago. The players and the official have that dialogue whether it's good whether it's bad. There was always a little point where they would let you get a little steam off then they would come to you say ‘that is enough. Let's move on.' Now their trigger is too quick. You look at somebody wrong you get a technical foul. You say one wrong thing you get a technical foul. I think that's the difference when I came in. The dialogue and relationships that the players and officials had when I first came in to now is a lot different.”

This falls into the premise that the league has grown more “soft” with the officiating being more strict with more fouls called while in certain situations there are no calls made. It's an issue that has been plaguing the league for quite some time that is beginning to draw more attention recently.

Anthony's comments fall within the range of assessment that many other players have voiced toward the officiating this season. Golden State Warriors All-Star forward Draymond Green has been quite vocal about it over the weekend, and he was fined $25,000 for his public stance.

With that being said, this could likely lead to Anthony being on the receiving end of a hefty fine, but it further underlines a growing problem that the players are having in their relationship and dealings on the court with the referees.
