In what seems like a no-brainer move by the Oklahoma City Thunder, they have exercised the third-year option on guard Terrance Ferguson.

Ferguson was selected by the Thunder with the 21st overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

The 20-year-old has been getting increased playing time this season at 20.8 minutes per game, up from 12.5 minutes per contest as a rookie. However, Ferguson is only averaging 2.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.6 steals per game. He is shooting 27.3 percent from the field and 7.7 percent from 3-point range this.

Some may wonder why this move is a no-brainer. Well, as much as he is struggling now, he still is one of the youngest players on the roster and has a cheap $2.48 million contract next season. This is his second year in the league, so he has plenty of room to grow and develop, especially on offense.

It seems like the team as a whole is struggling on offense, as OKC is putting up just 104.8 points per game, which is good for 27th in the league. The Thunder are also shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 24.8 percent from 3 this season.

Ferguson has the luxury not many young guys in the league have. He is on a contending team and is playing alongside Paul George, among others, who can help him learn and grow both on and off the court.

Terrance Ferguson remains an intriguing young talent, and it will be interesting to see how he develops in his career with OKC.
