When it comes to the Oklahoma City Thunder's first 30 games of the 2017-18 season, it is no secret that the team has underachieved its way to a 15-15 record. There's plenty of games to go to make things right, but something clearly needs to be done about the team's chemistry and execution on the court.

There's no denying the star power the Thunder have with point guard Russell Westbrook, small forward Paul George and small forward Carmelo Anthony. Despite their struggles, the team is still currently slated to make the NBA Playoffs as the Western Conference's eighth seed.

However, according to the NBA's official website and NBA Miner, the Thunder have actually been pretty great in a few statistical categories on defense this year. As seen in the links below, Oklahoma City leads the league in steals with 9.9 per game, deflections with 18.1 per game, loose balls recovered with 9.0 per game, and most shot clock violations forced on their opponent with 1.0 per game.

Those are some pretty interesting statistics there, right? If there is something a team is really good at, they might as well take notice of it and build off of it going forward.

Tonight at Chesapeake Energy Arena, the Thunder will look to start a winning streak when they host their Northwest Division rival in the Utah Jazz. Oklahoma City has a golden opportunity to string some wins together before the end of 2017, as six of the team’s next seven games will be at home.
