Despite the contact, Paul George of the Oklahoma City Thunder finished off an acrobatic layup off a Russell Westbrook lob.

Peep the clip below posted by NBA on Twitter. How the hell did George convert on that layup?

Russell's pass wasn't the most accurate pass out there. Despite this, George utilized his athleticism and court awareness to throw it up into the rim for a crazy layup.

George is having the best season of his career. He's averaging career-highs in points at 28.1 points per game, in rebounds at 8.2 per night and assists at 4.2 per game. Many have tagged him as a legitimate candidate for both MVP and Defensive Player of the Year.

He's partly responsible for the Thunder's success this season. They entered the game on Thursday with a 42-26 record for third place in the West. They are three games behind Denver Nuggets — the second place in the conference. With a few games remaining, they could end the season as the second seed.

Whether or not they snag the second seed or lock in the third seed, the Thunder have a legitimate chance at getting deep into the playoffs this year. It will be tough since they'll be competing championship contenders in the Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors. But as long as Westbrook and George bring their A-game, they have a shot.
