The game on Saturday between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Portland Trail Blazers was highly anticipated by a lot of fans as it featured two of the best point guards in the league today in reigning MVP Russell Westbrook and three-time All-Star Damian Lillard.
The game did not disappoint as it turned out to be a very competitive one, where the two stars even matched up during some plays.
One sequence that became part of a lot of highlights happened in the third quarter, as the Weber State product tried to throw down a powerful two-handed slam. However, Westbrook was up to the challenge and made sure he won't get posterized, as he blocked Lillard's attempt emphatically.
Westbrook may have had the better of the Blazers star guard during the sequence, but Lillard and his team ultimately had the last laugh on the night as they came out with the victory, 108-100. C.J. McCollum top-scored for the home team, finishing with 28 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, while Lillard chipped in with 20 points, one rebound, and seven assists of his own.
It was the Blazers' sixth straight win, and are now in third place in the tough Western Conference with a 37-26 win-loss slate.
The Thunder, on the other hand, saw their three-game winning streak snapped and their record dropped to 37-28 for the season. Given both teams' standings, there is a chance they could meet in the playoffs, which will definitely be hotly contested with both point guards expected to lead the way for their respective sides.
