Thursday was an emotional night for Russell Westbrook, Steven Adams and everyone associated with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Westbrook returned to OKC to face the Thunder and the franchise gave the former MVP an incredible tribute video which was very moving from start to finish.

Speaking to Thunder reporters on Friday, Steven Adams said the tribute video for Westbrook was “quite lovely.”

Russell Westbrook is the most popular player in OKC franchise history. He’s going to get his No. 0 jersey retired and will probably get a statue outside Chesapeake Energy Arena one day.

It was an incredible run for Westbrook with the Thunder. The eight-time All-Star and 2017 MVP finished his SuperSonics/Thunder career with averages of 23.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 8.4 assists. Russ averaged a triple-double the past three seasons.

Westbrook is the OKC franchise leader in points, free throws and box/minus. The explosive guard embraced OKC and the people from day one and always put that Thunder jersey on with pride. Westbrook was more than just a basketball player to OKC. He was an idol and hero.

The ESPN “30 for 30” on the Thunder is going to be epic and sad at the same time. The franchise had Kevin DurantJames Harden and Westbrook on the team at one point. All three players have won an MVP. The team, though, has zero championships on its résumé.
