In the wake of Tim Duncan‘s retirement announcement, many anecdotes of the great power forward's career have come to light. One that was just released comes from current Sports Illustrated senior writer Lee Jenkins.

According to Jenkins' tweet, Duncan was once his chemistry tutor of sorts. While visiting a friend at Wake Forest, where Duncan played his college ball, the person Jenkins was visiting said his friend “Tim” would come help with Jenkins' chemistry homework. Little did Jenkins know it was a player from the basketball team, let alone a guy that would be a future NBA Hall-of-Famer.

Between coach Gregg Popovich and Duncan apparently wrestling in 2000, Manu Ginobili tweeting about Duncan fixing his hair, and Duncan's trash talk being revealed to be helpful rather than hurtful, we shouldn't be surprised by this story. But that's why we all love Timmy D.
