After the Minnesota Timberwolves traded for Rudy Gobert, Anthony Edwards went viral as well. After all, the young guard is not the biggest fan of the French big man.

Following the news of the Gobert blockbuster deal with the Utah Jazz, the NBA Twitterverse poked fun at Edwards as NBA fans dug up an old video of the athletic guard savagely insulting the defensive guru.

To recall back in December 2021, Edwards had some rather bold comments about Gobert after the Timberwolves lost to the Jazz at the time. He highlighted that he doesn't consider the Frenchman the best rim protector in the NBA because the three-time Defensive Player of the Year doesn't put fear in his heart.

“Anytime I go against [Kristaps] Porzingis, I don’t get no layups. I don’t get why we couldn’t finish on Rudy Gobert. He don’t put no fear in my heart. I don’t know why,” Edwards said at the time.

Naturally, NBA fans couldn't stop themselves from bringing up the quote and the videos of Edwards making that statement.

But hey, everything's in the past now, right? Perhaps with Rudy Gobert his teammate now, Anthony Edwards will have a newfound appreciation for the center and what he does on the defensive end.

Edwards could also just say he was simply talking trash at the time and trying to get into the head of Gobert. The 30-year-old three-time All-Star was pretty mature when responding to the commentary as well, so he has probably forgiven the youngster by now.
