Team Canada's men's basketball team appears to be getting a serious squad together for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. One player who has his status for the event up in the air, however, is Minnesota Timberwolves wing Andrew Wiggins.

Wiggins reportedly does not have the most friendly of relationships with the national team higher-ups. Despite that, though, Canada Basketball GM Rowan Barrett said Wiggins will still get an invite and it is up to him if he will accept or not.

That endorsement certainly sounds as if Wiggins will have a place on the roster should he choose to seek one. While Team USA will still likely enter the Olympic Games as the favorites to claim the gold medal, Team Canada can certainly boast these names to their roster: Jamal Murray, Tristan Thompson, RJ Barrett, Kelly Olynyk, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dillon Brooks, Dwight Powell and Cory Joseph.

Toss Wiggins into that mix and the Canadians are shaping up arguably the finest roster that they have ever assembled for an Olympic showcase.

Wiggins is in the midst of a breakout 2019-20 campaign for Minnesota, having averaged 25.2 points per game on 46.9 percent shooting — both of which would set new career highs. Moreover, the Timberwolves forward is still just 24 years old and it appears he is only scratching the surface of his potential.
