Though he's been dealing with a sprained right ankle, it sounds like Timberwolves point guard Derrick Rose is going to suit up for Friday night's home game against the Dallas Mavericks.

Dane Moore of ESPN 1500 shared the news after Friday morning's shootaround:

Rose, now 30-years-old, has missed six straight games due to his ankle ailment but he's made solid progress in recovery. The former first overall pick and eventual MVP was hoping to make his return against the Mavs.

Prior to this recent setback, Rose was posting great numbers in a bounce back season. In his 32 appearances with the Timberwolves this season (11 starts), he's racked up averages of 18.9 points on 48.6 percent shooting from the field (46.2 percent from beyond the arc), 4.8 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 29.8 minutes per outing.

Rose participated in Friday morning's shootaround, according to a report from Moore. The Wolves will likely release official updates on his status shortly before tip but it seems he's intent on playing.

Friday night's Timberwolves-Mavs game is scheduled to tip-off inside the Target Center at 8:00 p.m ET. With a win, Minnesota (20-21 and 5th in the Northwest Division standings) will improve to .500 through the first half of this season.
