Minnesota Timberwolves starting point guard Jeff Teague is deemed questionable to play versus the Sacramento Kings because of a left ankle inflammation injury. The 30-year-old playmaker had 10 points and 11 assists during the Wolves' previous disappointing loss at the hands of the Phoenix Suns.
The official public relations Twitter account of the Wolves tweeted out this development.
With fellow point guards Derrick Rose playing excellent ball with consistency this season and Tyus Jones proving that he can be a steady presence at the one, Teague has found his name being included in trade rumors over social media.
Hoop Ball has the thoughts on the Teague trade chatter.
Teague's seen his scoring dip of late, and perhaps this is part of the reason why. He's still been able to keep his assists up and has still provided middle-round value amidst a poor shooting season, so he remains a buy-low option. If Teague can't play tonight we'll probably see Derrick Rose start, while Tyus Jones would see enough of a minutes increase to get on the board in deeper leagues.
Still, Teague is having a career season in assists this year with 8.3 dishes per game. However, the veteran playmaker is only shooting 31.1 percent from three-point range, his lowest rate since his rookie year. His overall field goal percentage is at 38.4 percent, a career-low.
Currently sitting at a 13-16 record, the Wolves could be looking at a shot at playoff contention and they may need to move more pieces around after the Jimmy Butler trade. The team may want another scorer on the team and Teague could be viewed as an intriguing trade asset.
