The Minnesota Timberwolves were in Salt Lake City on Friday for a road game against the Utah Jazz. The contest was a competitive one as what most people would expect it to be between two playoff contenders, but the game took a slightly different turn when Timberwolves guard Jeff Teague got physical with his Jazz counterpart, Ricky Rubio.

During one heated moment in the fourth quarter, Teague hit Rubio with a body check that sent the Jazz point guard flying into the sidelines. It was a frustration foul on the part of Teague, who did not like the fact that he was not able to draw a foul from Ricky Rubio during a previous play.

Teague was then tagged with a flagrant foul two, which mean ejection, and while his absence from the rest of the game hurt Minnesota’s chances of winning, he did garner some praise from sidelined teammate, Jimmy Butler.

Butler obviously liked the attitude displayed in that play by Teague, even though it resulted in another ejection for the Timberwolves; Minnesota big man Karl-Anthony Towns was thrown out of the game just before halftime after accumulating two technical fouls. Teague hit the showers early with 25 points, four rebounds, and two assists, albeit in a 116-108 loss to the Jazz.

Jimmy Butler is sidelined after going under the knife to repair a torn meniscus on his right knee, and is expected to miss around four to six weeks.

The Timberwolves will have plenty of time to cool their heads and find a solution to their woes, as they won’t be back in action until next Thursday against the Boston Celtics at home. Minnesota currently sits sixth in the Western Conference standings with a 38-28 record.
