Minnesota Timberwolves want-away star Jimmy Butler has tried to shed some light on his recent DNP's that have been somewhat clouded by mystery. According to the 29-year-old, his absences have nothing to do with his current issue with the team, and that it is purely about taking care of his own body.

“I'm not worried about no deal,” Butler said, per Nick Friedell of ESPN. “Injury or not, I got to take care of myself. I realize they have a job to do as an organization; I have one to do as a player. But if I'm not in the right with my body to go out there and do it, I don't want to get hurt. I've been hurt almost every year now, so we're going to take things with caution.”

Butler was available for the Timberwolves on Friday when the team faced the defending champions Golden State Warriors. Despite a noteworthy performance from the four-time All-Star (21 points, three rebounds, five assists), it was not enough to help the Wolves stop the juggernaut that is the Warriors, as Butler an co. fell to the champs 116-99.

This was Butler's first game back after sitting out Wednesday's win against the Utah Jazz. A couple of weeks ago, the 6-foot-8 swingman was also unable to take the court in the Timberwolves' matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. On both instances, Butler did not appears to nurse any specific injury, and both absences were merely for rest purposes.

There has been some suspicion that Butler has on occasion, refused to suit up for the Wolves as part of his plan to force a move away from Minnesota. Nonetheless, the four-time All-Defensive team member is denying such claims here, and maybe we should take his word for it?
