Despite all the nasty rumors surrounding his highly-publicized desire to leave the Minnesota Timberwolves, four-time All-Star Jimmy Butler still firmly believes that he is doing everything above board. As a matter of fact, the 6-foot-8 forward expressed his frustration towards reporters who constantly question his motives.

Following the Wolves' 116-99 loss at the hands of the Golden State Warriors on Friday, Butler was asked about his mysterious injury that has caused him to sit out two of the team's first nine games of the season. When a reporter implied that his DNP's were somehow part of his grand plan to force his way out of Minnesota, the 29-year old was visibly upset.

“I know it's true,” the Timberwolves star said, via Nick Friedell of ESPN. “So stop asking me questions about if I'm going to sit out or not. If I'm going to sit out, you probably won't talk to me on the day I sit out; but if I do, then I do and you can create a story around it with a lot of made-up stuff like ya'll normally do.”

On Wednesday, Butler sat out the Timberwolves' game against the Utah Jazz for rest purposes. Two weeks ago, he was also in street clothes when his team took on the Dallas Mavericks due to general soreness. While it is no longer uncommon for players to sit out games to rest, the timing of Butler's absences have been quite suspicious for some.

What Butler is saying here may or may not be true, but at the end of the day, there is no escaping all the malicious rumors after he decided to air his dirty laundry with the team publicly. Not that he deserves any of this, but some might say that he has somehow brought this upon himself.
