Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns says point guard Derrick Rose is one of the most athletically-gifted point guards this league has ever seen.

Despite suffering four knee injuries, Rose remains a one-man fast break and he can still get to the rim with the best of them.

“He’s one of the most explosive, athletically-gifted point guards this league has ever seen. So when his shot is going in as well, it’s almost unstoppable. We’re very fortunate we get to have him on our team and not be the ones guarding him.”

Derrick Rose is having a good season with the Timberwolves so far. The former league MVP is averaging 18.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game while shooting 46.6 percent from the field, 47.3 percent from beyond the arc and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The Timberwolves' offense has benefited from Rose's presence on the floor. The team has an offensive rating of 119.4 when Rose is on the court. That rating drops to 100.4 when Rose goes to the bench.

Before he suffered the ACL tear while he was with the Chicago Bulls, Derrick Rose was arguably the fastest player in the NBA. He had nuclear explosion and could jump out of the gym. He's still explosive now, but not at the level that he used to be at.

Karl-Anthony Towns enjoys playing with Rose, mostly because the Chicago native gets him easy shots in the paint. When Rose collapses the defense on his drives to the hoop, Towns is usually freed up for wide-open dunks. The former No. 1 overall pick is averaging 19.9 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists this year and shooting 48.2 percent from the floor and 44.0 percent from the 3-point line.

The Timberwolves are only 7-10 on the season. The team has looked better since the Jimmy Butler trade, but they have a ways to go to climb out of the hole they dug themselves.
