Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns has suffered what seems to be a knee injury in their game against the Washington Wizards.

According to reports, Towns limped off the court and told the team's staff that he heard something ā€œpop.ā€

The team eventually ruled Towns out for the rest of their game against the Wizards which went to overtime. Per Timberwolves PR, KAT sustained a knee injury. However, the extent of the problem is yet to be determined.

The injury ruined what could have been a special night for Karl-Anthony Towns. The All-Star big man finished with 40 points, 16 boards, two assists, two steals and one block in 40 minutes of action.

Minnesota went on to beat the Wizards in overtime, 135-130. Nonetheless, the team will certainly be more concerned about the condition of unarguably their best player. After all, hearing the 23-year-old say that something ā€œpoppedā€ would already raise red flags about the extent of the injury.

The Timberwolves will be hoping for the best and will surely give Towns all the time he needs to recover. They are 30-35 on the season so far and are virtually out of the playoff race, so it will work in their favor to be cautious about their franchise centerpiece.

Before Saturday's showdown with the Wizards, Towns is averaging 24.2 points and 12.2 rebounds on 52.2 percent shooting. He is also making 40.1 percent of his attempts from downtown and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.
