Against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, the Minnesota Timberwolves missed a total of 39 3-pointers — which claims the record for third-most in NBA history.

In their loss to the Nuggets, 100-98, the Timberwolves were 6-of-45 from deep for 13.3 percent shooting. Per Elias, this is this third-worst shooting performance from deep in NBA history.

Karl-Anthony Towns was 3-of-14 from deep, followed by Andrew Wiggins who went 1-of-6, then Josh Okogie who went 2-of-6. Jake Layman was 0-of-6, Jarrett Culver went 0-of-4, and Robert Covington went 0-of-2.

It was a rough night from the beginning. But NBA players are instructed to shoot as long as they're open with the firm belief that sooner or later, the shots will drop. Sadly, things didn't go well for the Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves are now 5-4 in the young season. The seeming resurgence of Andrew Wiggins has lifted the team this early. So far, he's putting up 24.6 points per game, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. He's also shooting 46.1 percent from the field. In their 125-119 overtime win over the Golden State Warriors, Wiggins dropped 40 points — a feat which raised the eyebrows of several fans and critics.

With a ton of season left, the Timberwolves have a chance to redeem themselves. They'll head to Michigan next to face the Detroit Pistons.
