Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor says he really likes point guard Derrick Rose, both on and off the court.
Rose is having a resurgence this season in Minnesota and is the second-leading scorer on the Timberwolves. Taylor says the former MVP has been a superstar for the club this season:
“I really like Derrick Rose,” Taylor told Sid Hartman of the Star Tribune. “I didn’t know him until last year when he came and played. I like him as a person.
“He certainly has been a superstar this year on our team. The things he does coming off the bench and how hard he works, we have to be careful that he doesn’t get injured. But he sure is a classy guy and we like him very much.”
In 45 games this season for Minnesota, Rose is averaging 18.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists per contest. The Chicago native is shooting 47.9 percent from the field, 38.8 percent from beyond the arc and 85.4 percent from the free-throw line.
After a bad loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, the Timberwolves are now 29-32 on the season, good for 11th place in the Western Conference standings. If Minnesota wants to make the playoffs for the second consecutive season, they are going to have to go on a winning streak to close out the season.
