The Minnesota Timberwolves were yet again victims of a third-quarter onslaught at the hands of the Golden State Warriors, taking a 125-101 loss that snapped their five-game win streak. Forward Taj Gibson noted his team was “humbled” in this loss, after only trailing by a point at halftime before the floodgates opened in the third, surrendering a 44-point quarter to a team that feasts on big leads.

Asked if there were any positives stemming from a 20-plus-point loss, Gibson was his usual blunt self.

“It tells us that we got humbled tonight,” Gibson said, according to Jerry Zgoda of The Minneapolis Star Tribune. “It’s a learning curve. That’s what happens when you’re feeling good: Five-game winning streak, people telling you how good you are. We just got humbled.”

“Back to the drawing board and learn from it. I’m excited for the next game. I know we’re going to bounce back even better.”

The Timberwolves benefitted from a sloppy first half, as the Warriors turned the ball over 13 times through the first two quarters. Minnesota wasn't able to keep up a torrid scoring pace, finding themselves on a 19-point hole to start the fourth quarter.

This team now has three different starters to get acquainted throughout the season, and it will likely take some time until they figure out how to contend with a team that has had plenty of core continuity like Golden State.
