Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards apparently has his press conferences to thank for being cast in Adam Sandler's movie “Hustle.”

The Netflix film, released on Wednesday, features Juancho Hernangomez (Bo Cruz) as the main star alongside Sandler (Stanley Sugerman). Interestingly, Edwards (Kermit Wiltz) acted as the antagonist to Hernangomez's character.

According to movie director Jeremiah Zagar, they didn't cast Edwards until the second half of the filming. However, when Sandler threw his name into the mix, they felt that the Timberwolves guard was perfect for the role.

“There were a couple of other NBA stars' names thrown around, but when Adam suggest Anthony it just seemed perfect,” Zagar explained, per Insider.

“I think Adam had been following his press conferences and felt like he has the vibe.”

True enough, Adam Sandler's instincts and perhaps eye for actors paid off. Anthony Edwards was a revelation in the film, as he really embraced his character and made it look so real–so much so that we even think he's like that in real life.

The trash-talking, all the gestures and antics just seem so natural for him.

“There's this shot in the movie that's a oner, where Bo Cruz walks in and meets Kermit for the first time,” Zagar shared. “And the way Anthony was able to deliver his line perfectly every time as that camera moved around is something that seasoned actors have trouble with. So right away you were like, ‘Oh my god!'”

Of course everyone knows his funny and amusing post-game pressers, and clearly, the Timberwolves youngster loves to be in front of the camera.

Hey, maybe Netflix can have a spinoff movie about the journey of Kermit Wilts!
