The Minnesota Timberwolves have officially signed forward Amile Jefferson and guard Melo Trimble, according to a press release sent out by the Wolves PR’s official Twitter account. Terms of their contracts were not disclosed, but both are likely one-year, partially guaranteed deals.
Jefferson, 24, went undrafted in this year’s draft after graduating from Duke. He suited up for the Wolves’ summer league team this offseason, and averaged 2.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in five games. He spent five years at Duke, and was part of their 2015 national championship-winning team along with current Wolves guard Tyus Jones.
Trimble, 22, was also undrafted after spending three years in Maryland. He featured for the Philadelphia 76ers’ summer league squad, putting up 10.3 points and 1.3 steals in three games. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 16.8 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.6 rebounds in his junior year for the Terrapins last season.
Amile Jefferson and Melo Trimble will likely spend the start of the season in the Timberwolves’ G League affiliate team, the Iowa Wolves, if they fail to secure a spot on the roster.
