The Brooklyn Nets and the Minnesota Timberwolves faced off on Wednesday night, and it did not turn out to be a good game for DeMarre Carroll’s face, no thanks to Jimmy Butler.

Butler was driving strong to the rim when he was fouled by Nets big man Quincy Acy. The contact sent the Timberwolves star going horizontal and his leg shot up as a result.

Carroll, who also made his way to the paint to help out, found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time as his face was inadvertently acquainted with Jimmy Butler's left shoe.

The impact of Butler’s shoe on DeMarre Carroll’s jaw unsurprisingly sent the Nets player staggering to the floor himself. However, the veteran forward shook it off and was able to continue.

The Timberwolves star wasn’t handed any punishment as his kick was obviously accidental. He merely picked himself up off the floor to shoot two of his 18 free throws on the night. He ended up going 16-of-18 from the stripe and had a game-high 30 points, continuing his game-changing effect on the team.

However, Carroll and the Nets ended up getting the last laugh as they just about edged the Wolves to get the 98-97 win at home.

This isn’t the first time the two players had a coming together. When Carroll was still with the Toronto Raptors and Butler was still with the Chicago Bulls, the former caught the latter with an inadvertent elbow which bloodied Butler up.

But despite that previous incident, there doesn’t appear to be much beef between the two even as DeMarre Carroll caught a foot to the face courtesy of Jimmy Butler.
