The Tennessee Titans are planning to release Vic Beasley on Wednesday, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Beasley only lasted five games with the Titans, who are 5-2 on the season.

The Atlanta Falcons selected Vic Beasley with the eighth overall pick in the 2015 draft out of Clemson. He led the NFL in sacks during the 2016 season but has really regressed since then.

With the Titans, Beasley recorded only two solo tackles. He had zero sacks and was a non-factor on defense.

In 83 games with the Falcons and Titans, Beasley has 37.5 sacks and 121 solo tackles. It's going to be interesting to see if a team signs the former first-round pick once he clears waivers.

The Titans (5-2) will face the Chicago Bears (5-3) in Week 9 at home. Both teams are on a two-game losing streak.

Tennessee will likely be favored to defeat Chicago since Mike Vrabel's group has the better offense and is playing at home. The Bears are really struggling on offense right now and will have some newcomers starting on the offensive line since some of the team's usual starters are hurt.

The Titans are coming off back-to-back losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals. The Steelers loss wasn't that bad since Pittsburgh is undefeated on the season. However, Tennessee should not have lost to Joe Burrow and the Bengals in Week 8.
