USC Trojans new head coach Lincoln Riley is hoping to make a good first impression in Southern California. After joining the Trojans on a massive deal, the former Sooners coach is starting to get to work at USC. The Trojans had their first practice of the season on Tuesday, and early on, the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. Colin Cowherd's sources were so impressed with what they saw from Riley, they the practice to be nothing short of a masterpiece.

One observer, and one of Cowherd's sources, described the practice as being “the greatest practice ever on a college campus,” while others called it “flawless.”

The statement is so over-the-top it almost feels satirical. Only one practice into his tenure with the Trojans, and Riley has already surpassed most of his predecessors in the eyes of USC fans.

If this is the type of reaction he gets from putting together a practice, just wait until he coaches in his first game for the team. A win would practically guarantee him a statue on campus, and a permanently vacant guest seat on The Herd. The way folks are talking about Riley's first session with USC would make it seem as if the Trojans have never before had a coach capable of hosting a competent practice.

Expectations are high for Riley in his first year at USC, and that was made even more evident based on the rave reviews he received after his debut practice. He'll find out how quickly the tone can change once he suffers his first loss with the program, however.
