Playing for four teams in the same number of seasons is definitely not something players are proud of. However, for Tyler Ennis, he is thankful to still be in the league and is hoping that the Los Angeles Lakers will extend an offer for him to remain with the team beyond this season.

The 22-year-old Canadian international recently spoke to Mark Medina of The Orange County Register, and discussed why he thinks highly of his current team, and also explained why he wants to stay with them.

“Anytime you go through the journey I’ve been through so far in the league and then have an opportunity to play and have people welcome me with open arms, that’s something you want to stay with. Obviously there’s a lot going on, but if the opportunity to stay is there, they’ll definitely be at the top of the list.”

He also shared how the Lakers are different from the previous teams he played for. He cited having more leeway to play his natural game and not being afraid of committing mistakes as his primary reasons.

“They’re kind of a lot more patient with the mistakes. That’s another thing I look at – whatever has the best opportunity and wherever you’re wanted.”

Ennis was part of the trade deadline deal that sent Corey Brewer to L.A., in exchange for Marcelo Huertas and draft rights to Brad Newley from the Houston Rockets. He has since appeared in 19 games for the Lakers and is averaging a career best 6.9 points, to go along with 1.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 15.9 minutes per outing.

The team's situation will be something worth keeping an eye on as Magic Johnson, Rob Pelinka, and company are expected to have a very busy summer. Although Ennis' future with the Lakers is still up in the air, they will surely be happy to know that their backup point guard is willing to stay with team and wants to be part of their future plans.
