Chris Weidman just suffered one of the most gruesome leg injuries you'll ever see. Not just in the sport of mixed martial arts, but I mean ever. Even his opponent in the UFC 261 bout, Uriah Hall, was clearly shaken up after that insane freak injury.
Hall was asked by referee Herb Dean to head to his corner after the incident and the 36-year-old was clearly taken aback by what had just gone down as he knelt in his corner (h/t Bleacher Report on Twitter):

With Weidman clearly unable to continue, Hall was declared as the winner via TKO after just 17 seconds into the first round. In the post-fight interview, Joe Rogan asked Hall to share his thoughts on the unexpected outcome of the fight and all the middleweight fighter could say was that he hopes Weidman is going to be okay after this horrific injury:
“I hope he’s okay. I wish his family well if you guys are watching.”

In case you haven't seen the injury, you can view the clip below. Fair warning though, it's pretty graphic. Viewer discretion is definitely advised.

Chris Weidman's freak injury is eerily similar to one that was sustained by the great Anderson Silva a few years back. Except that at that time, it was Weidman who was on the receiving end of the kick and it was Silva who broke his leg. Fate has a funny way of turning things around.
We hope that Weidman is able to recover from this injury. It looked terrible and as we mentioned earlier, one of the worst leg breaks you'll probably ever see. Prayers up for Chris.
