The UFC has announced a headline bout between MMA superstars Nate Diaz and Leon Edwards as a part of the UFC 262 event, per Ariel Helwani.

The two veteran fighters boast impressive resumes in the UFC, featuring a 21-12 record for Diaz and a 18-3 record with a no contest.

Diaz has not taken a fight since he was knocked out by Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 on November 2nd, 2019.

Edwards, on the other hand, has had a bit more success recently. He has won his last eight fights, with his most recent fight ending as no content after Edwards accidentally poked his opponent, Belal Muhammad in the fight.

The two exchanged fiery tweets back in February, beginning with a direct callout from Edwards.

“Nate just dribbled for an hour about wanting to fight at 170 against winners… let’s see it then @NateDiaz209. 8 fight win streak and #3 in the world. Let’s go if you still think you’re a real one.”

Diaz’ response was short and to the point.

“And who the f— is this?”

The twitter beef certainly still carries weight, as the fight has been announced just a month after the back and forth.

Most fans would say that Edwards is the favorite in this fight, citing the same accolades that Edwards himself pointed out in his tweet. However, Nate Diaz is still a big time fighter, so no result is guaranteed.

The fight will go down on May 14th at the Toyota Center in Houston Texas, featuring alongside the night’s other matchup, Oliveira vs. Chandler.
