Jorge Masvidal suffered a very frustrating loss to Colby Covington back at UFC 272. Many saw the wrestling as a big aspect of Covington winning the fight and shutting down the Cuban welterweight contender.

Wrestling is a big factor in the welterweight division as the best fighters have excellent wrestling. Even UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has an excellent wrestling base that gives Jorge Masvidal problems.

“The same thing with him that’s the Colby problem: wrestling,” Masvidal said on a recent episode of IMPAULSIVE when asked how he could get past Usman in the future. “First fight, just put me up against the fence and I wasn’t able to fuckin’ let go. The second fight, I’m thinking it’s a takedown after takedown after takedown. I was doing well stuffing the takedowns, and then boom, switched it up on me.”

Taking a look at his entire career, Jorge Masvidal realizes that wrestling has been a common problem. Especially in top UFC fights against Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman.

“I definitely feel the consistent problem that I have throughout my career is my wrestling is not 100 percent there yet,” Masvidal said. “It’s pretty damn good. It’s a lot better than when I fuckin’ first started, and shit, I’ve got another two, three years in this sport. Why not fuckin’ give everything I got into this wrestling shit, see what comes out of it?”

It will have to be seen what Jorge Masvidal's future in the UFC looks like after getting arrested for assaulting Colby Covington. He recently signed a very big contract and has plenty of fun fights left for him.
