Colby Covington had a lot of complaints following his UFC 245 fight against champion Kamaru Usman. One of those was that people were claiming he had broken his jaw in the contest.

Colby Covington spoke to ESPN about the reports of the broken jaw and why he stayed silent after the fight. He claims the jaw wasn't broken and that it was simply a clean strike.

“It definitely wasn't broken,” Colby Covington told ESPN. “He landed a clean strike, it was a good strike, but it was not a broken jaw… I'm tougher than anybody, I can endure anything.”

He chose not to do a lot of media after the fight and stayed away from social media. No one was sure why he didn't want to talk, some assumed it was from the broken jaw or even embarrassment from losing.

“I knew going into that fight, a lot of people already had a biased opinion against me,” Covington said. “So, I kind of wanted to sit back and reflect [after]. I didn't want to come out and say anything. I wanted to see how the media was going to spin it. The things they were going to say. Were they going to bring up the things that happened in the fight?”

Colby Covington grew frustrated with the lack of credit he received for how close the fight was. Many people say he was losing all of the rounds or wasn't having success.

The fight was very close and things were even on the judges' scorecards heading into the fifth round. Colby Covington will get his rematch when he takes on Kamaru Usman at UFC 268.
