Joanna Jedrzejczyk lost by a brutal spinning back fist knockout at UFC 275 against Zhang Weili. Immediately after the fight, the former strawweight champion opted to call it a career and retired in the cage.

The decision was a little bit surprising considering how close Joanna Jedrzejczyk was to getting a title shot. The former UFC champion didn't have any plans to retire heading into the fight, it just felt right.

“No, it was just in the moment, but I’ve had it in the back of my head. Maybe there was one day, maybe like a year ago, if something happened I might retire because I’ve been in this business for the last 19 years. Lots of investments from myself. It’s time to fully enjoy my life. I approach so much and honestly I haven’t had the time to think about how big my legacy is. I’m a hard worker, and I always dedicated myself. Joanna Jedrzejczyk leaves the sport with a great legacy and was a big reason why the UFC's strawweight division became so popular in the last couple of years. Things went downhill for her once she took a knockout loss to Rose Namajunas in 2017.

Now, Joanna Jedrzejczyk has plans in business and wants to start a family. There are many opportunities waiting for her outside of the UFC with the fighter being a very popular figure.
