There's savvy shopping, then there's taking a risk for a potential large payoff down the road. For a USC Trojans fan on Saturday, he fell somewhere in the middle. Although, if we're being honest at the risk of being a jerk, there's no real actual payoff to this.

A fan was caught displaying a Sam Darnold New York Jets uniform on Saturday. As you might remember, the gunslinger is currently Sam Darnold of the USC Trojans and not Sam Darnold New York Jets signal-caller.

To be fair to the fan, there's reasons for this entire dilly. Darnold is one of the top prospects for the NFL draft and is projected to go high in the first round in April. Some have him slotted to be the first or second quarterback taken.

He can actually return to college for another season, but that has not stopped some of the wost teams in the NFL from eyeing him as their future franchise quarterback.

As for the Jets… well, they are the Jets. That is basically the polite way of saying, you know, they will more than likely be near the very top of the upcoming draft because they are awful at football. If things go according to how most be project, and Darnold declares, there is a really solid chance the Jets select him — or any other QB for that matter — with their first pick.

Maybe this now becomes at trend moving forward. College football fans creating NFL uniforms for players they root for, with the idea being the fans guessing where the player will go by jersey creation.

Or something. Don't worry about the semantics of it all. That guy with the Sam Darnold New York Jets uniform sure didn't.
