The USMNT engaged in a tough duel against El Salvador on a chilly Thursday night in Columbus, Ohio. The Americans were able to come away victorious in the World Cup qualifying match on the back of a lone goal from Antonee Robinson.

Only, Antonee Robinson doesn't like being called “Antonee.” He prefers a more heroic term straight from a galaxy far, far away.

Via ESPN:

“It's weird being called Antonee. I prefer being called Jedi,” the self-professed “Star Wars” fan said afterward.

Here's the goal in all its glory, featuring quite the acrobatic celebration with his USMNT teammates afterward:

The USMNT obviously needed the “Jedi” heroics to secure the important World Cup qualifying victory. They now have 18 points with five games left in the qualifying window, trailing Canada by one point, with Mexico (17), Panama (14), Costa Rica (12), Jamaica(7), El Salvador (6) and Honduras (3) behind them.

Next up is a match in Canada on Sunday, followed up by a game against Honduras in Minnesota on Wednesday. The USMNT still has to travel to Mexico and Costa Rica in March as part of World Cup qualifying, and there's also a home game against Panama in Florida.

The top three CONCACAF nations will qualify for the 2022 World Cup being held in Qatar. The fourth-place team goes to a playoff against the Oceania champion, which is shaping up to be New Zealand.

The USMNT is currently in pretty good shape to qualify for Qatar 2022, but there's still a lot of action left before a spot is officially secured.
