Gary O'Neil, manager of Wolves, expressed his frustration with VAR decisions, claiming that USMNT star Tim Ream “should have been sent off” during Fulham‘s recent 3-2 victory, reported by GOAL. O'Neil, typically supportive of VAR, now finds himself disillusioned with the technology after what he perceives as poor refereeing decisions impacting his team's performance.

O'Neil criticized VAR for its handling of several incidents during the match, asserting that Ream deserved a second yellow card for a challenge on Hwang Hee-chan that resulted in a penalty. Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, O'Neil voiced his frustration, stating, “Maybe tonight has finally turned me against VAR. The impact that you are having on my reputation, and the club and people's livelihoods is massive. We should be able to talk about the game and not decisions, but unfortunately, we can't.”

The Wolves manager highlighted multiple instances where he believes VAR failed, including an alleged headbutt by Vinicius that went unpunished and a challenge by Ream that, according to O'Neil, should have led to a second yellow card.

Refereeing decisions have been a sore point for Wolves this season, with controversial incidents in their opener against Manchester United and another against Newcastle. In the latter case, referee Anthony Taylor's error led to a penalty for Newcastle, and Taylor was subsequently assigned to officiate in the Championship.

Despite the setbacks, Wolves find themselves in 12th place in the league with 15 points from 13 matches. They face a crucial Premier League clash against league leaders Arsenal on Saturday. Tim Ream and Fulham, on the other hand, will take on Liverpool a day later, looking to build on their recent victory over Wolves.
