Victor Oladipo will return to the Pacers lineup for Wednesday night's matchup against the Chicago Bulls. The former No. 2 overall pick has been out of commission for a year due to a ruptured quad tendon in his right knee, but he's ready to take the floor again.

The fact that Oladipo has recovered enough to play in an actual game setting is great news for the Pacers, who have remained a competitive team in his absence. Indiana is currently holding a 30-17 overall record, which would earn the team a No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference if the Playoffs started today.

Though he's going to play in Wednesday's game against the Bulls, Oladipo will undoubtedly be on a minutes restriction. He'll be joining a rotation that has received solid contributions from new players like Malcolm Brogdan and Jeremy Lamb. However, Oladipo's return will cut into the minutes of some of these players. Still, the Pacers are happy to have their star player back on the court, as are his teammates.

Pacers head coach Nate McMillan told Scott Agness of The Athletic that Victor Oladipo will come off the bench in his first game back and have a minutes restriction through the All-Star Break. This is good logic, as there is no need to rush him back into the fold.

“We're going to be slow with him, be patient with him,” McMillan told The Athletic, referring to Oladipo.

Oladipo, now 27 years of age, is an important piece of Indiana's postseason aspirations. In his 35 games played during the 2018-19 campaign, he racked up averages of 18.8 points on 42.3 percent shooting from the field (34.3 percent from beyond the arc), 5.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.7 steals in 31.9 minutes per outing.

Victor Oladipo's injury was quite bad. It occurred in the first half of a game against the Toronto Raptors last January. He collapsed onto the court in pain and was later helped off on a stretcher. He's worked hard to get to this point, but he says he isn't expecting anything miraculous in his first game back:

“I don't expect to do anything out there miraculous — I just expect to play basketball to the best of my ability,” Victor Oladipo said Tuesday, via ESPN. “I know I'll get better as time goes on, and I've got to be patient with my body and patient with the game. But I'm a competitor. I know it isn't going to be easy.”

Wednesday night's matchup between the Pacers and Bulls is scheduled to tip inside Bankers Life Fieldhouse at 7:00 p.m. ET. Both teams have won three of their last five games.
