Philadelphia Eagles tackle Lane Johnson took a break from all the football, as he played the role of an ice cream man for a day to serve the frontline workers that literally go face-to-face against the coronavirus every single day.

The 30-year-old took front and center in an Eagles initiative with Rita's Water Ice, as they gave out free ice cream at Jefferson Health. Here is the video of Johnson's endearing gesture, courtesy of NBC Philadelphia:

Johnson was more than happy to give back, as he kept an upbeat attitude throughout the service. There were dozens of health workers that lined up for the free ice cream, and most of them had their pictures taken with the Eagles star.

In the video, Johnson expressed just how much he appreciates the sacrifices of frontline workers:

“All football players are entertainers,” he said. “We inspire people, but saving lives — they need to put the camera behind us and see who the real heroes are.”

Lane Johnson, who's yet to take the field since Week  7 due to injuries, could not have said it any better. These frontliners are indeed the heroes in the fight against the pandemic, and needless to say, the entire world would be lost without them putting on a brave face — while risking their lives — every single day.

Lane Johnson and the Eagles did an awesome job here, as they put a smile on each health worker they encountered that day. Their beaming smiles may have been covered by their face masks, but there's no denying that Johnson's visit served as an inspiration for them to carry on with their hard work and dedication.
