Alongside Phase 2 of Honkai Star Rail Version 1.6 comes Virtual Scentventure, a combat event in which players must try to score as high as possible. If you are wondering how to beat it, don't worry. Here is our guide on how to beat Stage 2 of the Virtual Scentventure event, happening now in HSR.

Honkai Star Rail Virtual Scentventure Event – Stage 2 Guide

The Virtual Scentventure event will run until near the end of Honkai Star Rail Version 1.6 Phase 2. Unlike the Critter Pick event introduced during the first Phase, this event will not become permanent. As such, players must finish the event before it goes away. Before we dive into the guide for this particular stage, let's first review the Virtual Scentventure event basics.

Virtual Scentventure Basics

There are a total of ten stages in this event: five Normal Mode stages and five Despair Mode stages. Players must achieve 500 points in all five Normal Mode stages before they can do the Despair Mode stages. This guide will cover Normal Mode Stage 2, with a guide for Despair Mode coming out once it is available.

The objective of this event is to deal as much damage as they can to a particular boss enemy within a certain amount of turns. Ideally, the player must defeat the boss to receive the maximum amount of points. This will become the player's base score. Additionally, each stage has a certain number of Action Points that get reduced whenever the boss or the player's characters start their turn. Once the player defeats the boss, their remaining Action Points get added to their score. The player will then receive rewards based on their final score. Players will also receive a letter rating, with the highest being SS rank.

Each stage has an Illusion Trait, which modifies the fight in a particular way to make it more difficult. However, once certain conditions are met, players can also receive various buffs based on the Illusion Trait requirements. Each Stage also has four Scent Plug-ins that give various passive buffs to the player's team. Players can select up to two in each stage. Selecting the right buff will be of help to the player. Lastly, there are two Trial characters per Stage, which the player can use alongside their characters. This gives players a chance to use characters they don't have.

Virtual Scentventure Rewards

Players will receive various rewards depending on their total score after finishing each Stage. Below are the rewards that players can get:

  • Earn 500 point(s) in this stage
    • 60 Stellar Jades
    • 2 Traveler's Guide
    • 40,000 Credits
  • Earn 1000 point(s) in this stage
    • 40 Stellar Jades
    • 2 Traveler's Guide
    • 3 Refined Aether
  • Earn 2000 point(s) in this stage
    • 20 Relic Remains
    • 4 Lost Crystals
  • Earn 2600 point(s) in this stage
    • 10 Relic Remains
    • 20,000 Credits

As such, players must score at least 2,600 points in each Stage to get all of the rewards.

Virtual Scentventure Enemy Lineup

In this Stage, players will be fighting against Kafka. Kafka is weak to Physical, Wind, Imaginary, and Quantum. Additionally, players will also have to fight against IPC workers thanks to one of this stage's Illusion Traits.

Virtual Scentventure Illusion Traits

These are the Illusion Traits for Stage 2:

  • Kafka takes less DMG. After Weakness is broken, additionally delays action and additionally increases DMG taken.
  • When Kafka's Weakness is broken, all allies will recover Energy and Skill Points.
  • Kafka absorbs Performance Points from other enemy units during her turn, and successfully doing so greatly enhances her current attack.
  • Attaches Outsourcing to the action bar. Every time Outsourcing takes action, summons IPC Workers.

Based on the Illusion Traits, it is important for players to focus on taking down the IPC Workers. This is so Kafka can't absorb the Performance Points from them, which prevents her attacks from being enhanced. Not only that, but two of the Scent Plug-ins take effect when the player possesses Performance Points. As such, stealing them from the IPC workers is a must.

Virtual Scentventure Scent Plug-ins

Here are the available Scent Plug-ins for this Stage of the event:

  • Plum-Scented
    • Increases the Basic ATK DMG of all allies by 50%
  • Peony-Scented
    • Increases the Ultimate DMG of all allies by 75%
  • Honey-Flavored
    • When allies possess Performance Points, increases DMG dealt by 75%
  • Mustard-Flavored
    • When allies possess Performance Points, their action is Advanced Forward by 100%

Virtual Scentventure Stage 2 Team Compositions

The trial characters for this stage are the following:

  • Dan Heng – Imbibitor Lunae (Destruction Imaginary)
  • Ruan Mei (Harmony Ice)

As such, here are some possible team compositions for this stage:

  • Imaginary F2P
    • Dan Heng – Imbibitor Lunae (Trial)
    • Ruan Mei (Trial)
    • Hanya
    • Lynx
    • Scent Plug-ins
      • Plum-Scented
      • Honey-Flavored
    • This team composition is an F2P-friendly team that uses the trial Dan Heng – Imbibitor Lunae and Ruan Mei as the main DPS and Support respectively. Dan Heng's job is to quickly take down the various IPC workers that get summoned, while also whittling down on Kafka's Toughness when she gets hit by his empowered Basic ATKs.
    • While Yukong may seem like the best choice to buff Dan Heng, Hanya's Skill Point recovery is a must as Dan Heng is a very Skill Point-hungry character. Using Hanya's Skill on Kafka, and using attacks on her to recover your Skill Points for Dan Heng is the play here.
    • Try to make sure that it's Dan Heng that gets the Performance Points so that he will receive the DMG increase from the Honey-Flavored Scent Plug-in.
  • Dr. Ratio Team
    • Dr. Ratio
    • Ruan Mei (Trial or Own)
    • Welt
    • Fu Xuan
    • Scent Plug-ins
      • Peony-Scented
      • Honey-Flavored
    • Thanks to the free Dr, Ratio that players received with the launch of Version 1.6 Phase 2, players now have access to a very strong Imaginary DPS. Dr. Ratio's onslaught of attacks from his Follow-Up attacks and Ultimate makes him a very strong pick against Kafka.
    • Welt's job in this team composition is to apply the Slow debuff on the enemy team, which increases the chance for Dr. Ratio to do a Follow-up attack whenever he uses his Skill. It's also his job to make sure that, once Kafka's Toughness is broken, Kafka's turn will always keep getting delayed by a combination of slow and Imprison.
    • If the player doesn't have Welt, then can also bring Hanya instead, as the player can easily run out of Skill points from this team composition.
    • Players can choose to bring other healers like Huohuo or Luocha in this fight instead of Fu Xuan. Huohuo is particularly good thanks to the DMG increase and Energy Recharge from her Ultimate.
  • Wind Premium Team
    • Blade
    • Ruan Mei (Trial or Own)
    • Bronya
    • Huohuo
    • Scent Plug-ins
      • Plum-Scented
      • Honey-Flavored
    • Blade is a good Main DPS for this stage as his AoE attacks can easily take down the IPC workers, which in turn give him Performance Points. This will then increase his DMG thanks to the effect of Honey-Flavored. Plum-Scented also synergizes well with Blade, as his primary source of damage is his empowered Basic ATK.
    • Ruan Mei and Bronya are good supports for Blade as they allow him to attack more frequently, while also breaking the enemy Toughness more easily. This allows Blade to deal a lot of damage whenever it's his turn.
    • While Huohuo is probably the best Healer in this team, using Luocha instead also helps, as his Healing skills are really good for Blade teams.

As mentioned above, these are just possible team compositions for this stage. If the player has other team compositions that they want to use, they are free to do so. As long as the player meets the requirements to receive all the rewards, they can use any team they want.
