Golden State Warriors forward Alfonzo McKinnie is riding a nice hot streak right now. He's emerging as a solid role player who can provide energy and scoring off the bench. When the Golden State Warriors dominated the Chicago Bulls, McKinnie played the best game of his entire career. He scored 19 points and reeled in 10 rebounds in his first career double-double.

But his trip to Chicago was about more than just basketball. He bought his mother a house in his hometown of Chicago. This was a trip home where he was able to fulfill lifelong goals.

“It was just special. All-around special. The whole day,” he told Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

“My mom and everyone came to the hotel where we were at. I had my banker there, the agent, my realtor. I was able to sign off the documents to get my mom the house. That was something I’d wanted to do for awhile.

“To kick the day off like that was probably one of the best moments ever for me.”

This is an awesome story for the 26-year-old who has only played in 24 career games. Alfonzo McKinnie has spent most of his career in the G League, but he's also made stops in Mexico and Luxembourg. That's a pretty stunning rise and it's a testament to McKinnie's will to succeed.

He's in a perfect situation with Golden State and everything is going right for him. The Warriors may have found a diamond in the rough.
