Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green knows Kevin Durant very well, which is why he never really had any doubt that the Brooklyn Nets forward would join Team USA for the Tokyo Olympics.

According to Green, it would have been even more difficult to talk KD out of playing compared to convincing him to play. That's just the way he's wired based on his experience playing with him during their time in Golden State together.

“I had no doubt in my mind that he was playing. I’m sure everyone tried to talk him out of it. Coming off an Achilles injury, all of the minutes played in the playoffs, had some injuries throughout the playoffs. What I knew, in knowing Kevin, you were going to talk him out of playing as opposed to talking him into playing. He just love hoopin’, that’s what he lives for,” the Warriors star said former teammate, per Joe Vardon and Alex Schiffer of The Athletic.

Kevin Durant's decision to join Team USA came as a shock to a lot of people, especially since he just finished his first season with the Nets after a year off recovering from his right Achilles injury. Furthermore, he was only able to play in 35 regular season games in 2020-21, which is just almost half of the games scheduled for the shortened campaign.

With that said, it would have been understandable had he opted out of Team USA to give his body more rest and a chance to recover.

However, as KD's former Warriors teammate said, his love for basketball is just on another level.

Sure enough, Nets fans will be hoping for the the best for Durant's health given the recent injuries to NBA players in general. Team USA needs KD to increase their chances of winning Olympics gold in Tokyo, but his health will need to take priority no matter what.
