There's no debating whether Draymond Green deserved the technical foul that resulted in his automatic ejection from the Golden State Warriors' dispiriting home loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night. Whether he expressed contrition to Donovan Mitchell personally for shoulder shoving the sprinting Cavs star from behind is unclear at this point. What Green continues making explicitly clear to both Warriors fans and NBA followers at large, though, is that he couldn't care less about their criticism.

Green posted a fiery message to his detractors on Instagram Sunday morning, insisting only he knows how to be the best version of himself while castigating the public for lacking similar self-reflection.

The incident between Green and Mitchell occurred midway through the third quarter of Golden State's 118-110 loss to Cleveland. Replay review was instituted after Mitchell went chest-to-chest with Green as the latter dribbled the ball up the floor, permitting officials to go back and look at what instigated Mitchell's act. After a lengthy review and discussion, Green was issued his second technical foul of the game for pushing Mitchell on the prior possession, yielding his ejection.

After the game, Steve Kerr and the Warriors conveyed surprise and confusion about the officials' ability to review previous possessions. They largely steered clear of defending Green's outward combativeness, though, a defining feature of his on-court persona for years. Green, meanwhile, stressed that he's officiated differently than other players in the league, his ejection only justified by what he called “the Draymond rules.”

Green and Golden State are back in action on Sunday evening, hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves for the first of a two-game set at Chase Center.
