The Golden State Warriors have waived Georges Niang and Michael Gbinije, the team announced in a press release.

Waiving Niang and Gbinije trims the Warriors's roster down to 15 players now just a few days before the start of next season.

In four preseason games, Niang averaged 4.0 points in 9.8 minutes per game. Gbinije appeared in four games as well, averaging 3.3 points in 7.5 minutes.

Niang was drafted by the Pacers last year and Gbinije was picked by the Pistons. The two were signed by the Warriors this summer. They are both candidates now to play for the Warriors' G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors. There they can remain a part of the franchise while having the opportunity to stay ready in case injuries open up a spot for them in the NBA.

The Warriors are once again poised to dominate this season. There was little turnover from last year with the likes of Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Andre Iguodala and JaVale McGee re-signing. There will be some new faces in Nick Young, Omri Casspi and rookie Jordan Bell, who impressed many during the preseason. It's all added up to head coach Steve Kerr describing the team as the deepest the Warriors will ever have.
