Kevin Durant turned a few heads with his latest take on his tenure with the Golden State Warriors.

The Brooklyn Nets star was adamant that the Warriors should retire his jersey in the rafters, no questions asked.

Via The Ringer:

“Every one of these places I played is my home,” Durant said of his three NBA teams thus far. “I can imagine me when I’m done, and I don’t think any one of these franchises would be like, ‘No, K, what you did here is not a part of our history.’'

“OKC has to retire my jersey,” KD continued. “It wouldn’t even be good for the game of basketball if they didn’t. The same with Golden State.”

While not everyone is in full agreement with KD's take, he at least has one supporter in Warriors icon Chris Mullin. The sharpshooter recently weighed in on which side he falls over Kevin Durant's jersey retirement claim in Golden State.

Via NBC Sports Bay Area:

“100 percent,” argued Chris Mullin on the KD jersey retirement debate. “There's different levels of accomplishment. Kevin Durant's tenure here with the Golden State Warriors were three NBA Finals, two Finals MVPs, and he went out there and sacrificed his body to try and get that third championship in a row. He's as unique a player as we've seen in the history of the game of basketball.”

While Kevin Durant only played in three seasons with the Warriors, his impact cannot be denied in building what became a dynasty in the 2010s. KD leading the way for one of the greatest teams in NBA history was clearly enough evidence for Chris Mullin.

It's hard to imagine that the best player on two championship teams doesn't get his jersey retired by said franchise— regardless of the circumstances surrounding his arrival and departure.
