Golden State Warriors rookie forward Jordan Bell exited Wednesday's game against the Chicago Bulls in the opening 24 seconds of the game, leaving in a wheelchair after being unable to get up by his own power.

The Oregon product likely has a bone bruise in his injured left ankle, according to head coach Steve Kerr.

“The MRI was pretty good this morning. Nothing glaring. The X-ray was fine yesterday,” Kerr told Damon Bruce of 95.7 KNBR The Game. “So it doesn't appear to be more than a bone bruise, but bone bruises can be tricky”

Bell's injury was deemed a severe sprain after the X-rays came out negative, but a bone bruise could signify more than just days of recovery, according to how the individual heals.

The rookie injured himself in the first defensive play of the game, attempting to contest a Robin Lopez shot in the air, and landing awkwardly in his left leg — crashing into the floor almost immediately and grabbing his lower leg in pain.

Bell had earned the start after Draymond Green was ruled out, but it was short-lived with the unexpected news, as Kevon Looney, JaVale McGee, and David West split his minutes at the forward and center positions.

Expect further word on his status in the following days, though it's unlikely to see him suiting up at all this week, as Kerr and the coaching staff have largely played it safe, favoring health over risk throughout the entire season.
