Jordan Poole made headlines again on Monday after torching the Denver Nuggets in Game 2 of their first-round matchup. The Golden State Warriors guard dropped 29 points as he helped lead his team to a 2-0 advantage against reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and Co.

Poole definitely has a bright future ahead of him. The big question now is if it's going to be in Golden State. The 22-year-old's current deal ends next season which means that an extension has to be ironed out this summer if the Warriors want to keep him on board for the long haul.

A potential issue for the Warriors would be the fact that they're likely going to go over the salary cap if they re-sign Poole to a big deal. Team owner Joe Lacob admitted, however, that this is not exactly something that concerns him right now:

“I’m not worried about that — certainly not now,” Lacob said, via Tim Kawakami of The Athletic. “We only have one thing on our mind now, which is to win, get to the next round and see how far we can go in these playoffs.

“I’m not going to talk about salary because it’s irrelevant right now. We’re in this year. After the year’s over we’re all evaluating where we are, and we’ll try to put the best team on the court we can for next year. And we’ll see what that is.”

Nevertheless, Lacob also revealed how big of a fan he is of Jordan Poole:

“The biggest thing I’m really happy about is the revelation of Jordan Poole. He’s just playing incredible. … He’s arguably been our best player for a month and a half. He’s really emerging. He’s a tremendous talent.”

Does this sound like an owner that is willing to let one of his brightest young stars walk away as a free agent? I certainly don't think so.
