After suffering a 129-121 Game 5 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers, the Golden State Warriors will need to wait at least a few more days before they get a chance to secure their spot in the second round of the playoffs.

Let's make one thing clear: this is by no means a foregone conclusion. The Clippers may be down in the series, but it would definitely be foolish to count them out at this point.

Warriors superstar Kevin Durant has been here before, and he fully understands the situation they are in. As a result, the former MVP winner does not even want to entertain the idea of facing the Houston Rockets in the second round, stating that the team has had no discussions about this whatsoever:

“I haven't talked to my teammates about the Rockets,” exclaimed Durant.

The 10-time All-Star went on to explain how the Warriors have kept their focus on what's right in front of them:

The Rockets defeated the Utah Jazz, 100-93, as they clinched their spot in the next round. They are now eagerly waiting for the winner of the Warriors-Clippers series, and are surely making all the necessary preparations.

The Warriors do not have that luxury at the moment, with the Clippers posing as a huge stumbling block in their three-peat quest. As Durant insinuated, the Dubs will need to get through LA first before they even start thinking about Houston.
