The Golden State Warriors captured their second straight NBA title and third in the last four years after sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night. It was a second straight NBA Finals that All-Star forward Kevin Durant led the way offensively, helping him capture his second straight NBA Finals MVP award, which has put him in some elite company, according to Ben Golliver of Sports Illustrated.

Overall, Durant is also just the sixth player in league history to win back-to-back Finals MVPs, joining Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal,  Hakeem Olajuwon, and Michael Jordan to accomplish that feat since the award began in 1969. He is also one of only three Warriors player swho has won the award alongside teammate Andre Iguodala and Hall of Famer Rick Barry.

Durant put together an impressive series, averaging 28.8 points on 52.6 percent shooting from the field and 40.9 percent from beyond the arc along with 10.8 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 2.0 blocks per contest. He was at his best in the final two games of the series, as his playoff career-high 43 points in Game 3 led the Warriors to a road win while he dropped a triple-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in the close-out Game 4.

Although Stephen Curry put up an admirable offensive effort in the NBA Finals that saw him drop 37 points in Game 4 while averaging 27.5 points in the series, the 29-year-old was the leading offensive firepower, as he provided a more consistent scoring punch. His all-around production was key in pushing the Warriors to a four-game sweep over the Cavaliers.
