Klay Thompson wasn't short of his usual humor after coming down from a high of a record-breaking 14 3-pointers against the Chicago Bulls. The Golden State Warriors marksman buried 10 of his long-range bombs in the first half only to hit again and again in the second half and even bury his very last shot with an unusual headband.

Thompson had bumped his head onto center Damian Jones' chin during a play and was consequently bleeding from his forehead when he hit his record-tying trey, only to be tended to during an infection control timeout to get back in the game with only a band-aid and a headband to cover up the wound.

“I looked like Jackie Moon out there,” said Klay Thompson, referencing the popular basketball comedy “Semi-Pro” starring Will Ferrell. “I was feeling good, and he's one of my favorite characters in all of sports movies, so it's part of why I broke the record.”

Thompson raised his 3-point average from 13.8 percent (5-of-36 through the first seven games) to 31.7 percent after shooting 14-of-24 from deep against the helpless Bulls.

A rousing 52-point night also bumped his scoring average to a whisker below his 2017-18 average at 19.8 points per game, as it took only one game for Klay Thompson to find his shooting stroke.

Thompson had a very strong preseason shooting from deep, making 16 of his 29 attempts from long distance. Klay Thompson might not have created the alley-oop like Jackie Moon did, but he sure changed history by etching his name in the 3-point record books.
