San Francisco, CA – The Golden State Warriors broke their 4-game losing streak by defeating the Utah Jazz. Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson went nuclear, scoring over 30 points each. They were down 21 points at one point, and an 18-0 run sealed the victory for the Dubs.

Rudy Gobert, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, was caught trying to defend Thompson and Poole multiple times in the fourth quarter. Gobert continuously stayed back in a drop coverage, and it allowed the two guards to get open looks at the basket.

“It's not very smart,” Warriors star Klay Thompson told ClutchPoints. “I'm not going to say I'm not explosive to the rim. I just need to chop my feet and rise up when I have that much space, and I did not let missed shots discourage me tonight.”

The Warriors won the game 111-107. Thompson scored a game-high 36 points and made eight three-pointers.

Gobert’s refusal to come out and defend the Warriors on the perimeter likely cost the Jazz the game. A small adjustment could have made a huge difference.

The Warriors intentionally attacked the big man. No matter how many times they scored, nothing changed. The Warriors gladly accepted the way Gobert guarded them.

“I'm not surprised, but I'm grateful,” Thompson said.

Saturday, Thompson passed Jeff Mullins (12,549) for seventh on the Warriors' all-time points list. The next Warriors legend he will pass on the list is Nate Thurmond. He has 13,191.

A big night from Thompson equaled a huge victory. It was a game the Warriors desperately needed to win, and it clinched them a playoff birth. It's their first postseason appearance since 2019.
