The Golden State Warriors rolled over the Cleveland Cavaliers in a convincing 122-103 win on Sunday night to grab a commanding 2-0 series lead in the 2018 NBA Finals.
Much of this huge offensive outing from the Warriors came from an impressive individual performance from two-time league MVP Stephen Curry, dropping a game-high 33 points behind an NBA Finals single-game record with nine made 3-pointers that surpasses soon-to-be-inducted Hall of Famer Ray Allen.
The 30-year-old was a huge game-changing factor from beyond the arc in Game 2 behind his stellar shooting, making several ridiculous 3-pointers from several different spots on the floor in difficult positions. His made shots from distance were deflating for the Cavaliers while keeping them at bay that all came to a head in the fourth quarter when the Warriors blew the gates open.
Curry was on fire in the final period that saw him make five 3-pointers that helped push the lead to a game-high 23 points while the Warriors outscored the Cavaliers 32-23 in the last 12 minutes of action. It has marked his second-straight performance with at least five made 3-pointers along with scoring more than 25 points in each contest.
During Sunday's tilt, he had also passed LeBron James for second all-time in made 3-pointers in playoff history only trailing Allen, who sits at 385 for the best mark in league history. Curry could foreseeably pass that mark in this year's NBA Finals or break the record in next his appearance in the playoffs that looks to be an inevitable feat.
All of this could further underline that he is hedging toward possibly making a strong run to claiming his first NBA Finals MVP award if he's able to keep up his play while leading the Warriors to a series win over the Cavaliers.
