Not only is Stephen Curry hosting the ESPYs on Wednesday night, but he's also a nominee for a number of awards. Naturally, the Golden State Warriors star wants to win, especially the Best NBA Player honor.

Speaking to PEOPLE ahead of his hosting gig, Curry shared his desire to take the accolade–probably to include it in the trophy case where his Finals MVP award is. However, he admitted that it will be difficult considering he's up against the likes of NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid and Luka Doncic.

“There's so many young guys that are coming up and taking strides and doing amazing things,” Curry said, referencing the fact that he's the oldest nominee at 34 years old.

“Obviously I want to win that category and add it to the championship glory of what this year was, but we'll see what happens.”

For what it's worth, Stephen Curry has a great chance to win Best NBA Player. He's the only NBA champion among the nominees, and he did win the Finals MVP honor after a sensational performance against the Boston Celtics.

Jokic has a fighting chance given that he's won back-to-back MVPs now. But seriously, though, Curry appears to be the frontrunner with everything he has accomplished. This was his year, during which he cemented his status among the all-time greats.

Of course a lot can happen and voters have different perspective. Nonetheless, it'll certainly be fun to see the Warriors guard take some awards after he roasts other athletes as he plans to.
